Making Pork Chops Sauerkraut and Potatoes:
Choosing the right cooking technique to meet ones needs depends on how quick your needs for meal to be done. Using the Instant Pot or Electric Pressure cooker can get this meal done in under 1 hours time. Where a slow cooker takes 8 hours on lower heat, is simple to start in morning and be ready for dinner meal. Using the classic method cast iron dutch oven in 325°F oven cooking for 4 to 5 hours. This method needs attention as it is cooking.
The Instant Pot or Electric Pressure cooker doesn’t need any additional attention cooking. Both Instant Pot or Electric Pressure Cookers have holding modes after timer finishes. If your preference is to come home to cooked meal use Slow Cooker. If there isn’t enough time in the morning to prep food, the Instant Pot can get dinner meal together in a little over hour.

- Season each pork chop with salt, pepper on both sides.
- Place diced bacon in hot skillet, cook until crisp. Or set into sauté mode using Instant Pot, remove crisp bacon pieces onto paper towels.
- Sear each pork chop in hot skillet or in sauté mode Instant Pot
- Remove the pork chops from skillet or Instant Pot, place on resting plate.
- Add julienne onions and apple slices to Instant Pot or Slow Cooker
- Add Seared Pork Chops over onions and apples.
- Open can of sauerkraut and place over pork chops evenly.
- Season the sauerkraut pork with caraway seeds, dill seeds and minced garlic.
- Place the washed baby potatoes, or quartered B size potatoes over mixture.
- Add optional baby carrots over mixture.
- Add 1/2 cup of Apple juice or sweet white wine.
- Place lid on Instant pot or slow cooker.
- Set Instant Pot for 30 minutes on high pressure. Or Set Slow Cooker on low heat should be ready in 8 to 10 hours.
- If you’re doing it classic style in cast iron dutch oven set oven 325°F and cook for 4 to 5 hours covered. Check amount moisture about 1/2 way through cooking, might have to add extra wine or apple juice.

Brown diced bacon until crisp in hot skillet or in sauté mode Instant Pot, remove crisp bacon pieces onto paper towels. Save some crisp bacon bites for garnishing.

Sear each pork chop in hot skillet or in sauté mode Instant Pot.

Remove the pork chops from skillet or Instant Pot, place them on to a resting plate.

Add the julienne onions and apple slices to Instant Pot or Slow Cooker, sauté for 3 minutes.

Next add the seared Pork Chops over top of the onions and apples in the Instant Pot or Slow Cooker.

Open a can of sauerkraut and place the kraut over the top of the pork chops evenly. Sprinkle reserved bacon bits over Sauerkraut.

Season the sauerkraut pork with caraway seeds, dill seeds, bacon and minced garlic.

Next add the washed baby potatoes, or quartered B size potatoes over pork and kraut mixture.

Add optional baby carrots over pork kraut mixture, sprinkle some of the caraway seeds and dill seeds over top.

Add 1/2 cup of Apple juice or sweet white wine.

Release pressure from Instant Pot when done, then remove lid carefully.

Plate the Pork Chops on top of sauerkraut, potatoes and carrots around the side of the pork chops. Garnish with bacon bits and green herbs if available.
Note
Leftovers hold well in the refrigerator for one week. They reheat very well and taste just as good.
